BigRock review

BigRock is a fairly traditional registrar. You can buy a domain, change DNS, set up forwarding, move domains in or out and get support at any time of day. Its prices are decent rather than exceptional, and the service is especially well known in India. Hosting and email are there too, but for me the domain side is what matters most.

Review verdict

Simple to use, with support around the clock

BigRock is easy enough to recommend if you want a normal registrar without much of a learning curve. The basics are all covered and support is easy to reach. I would just keep an eye on renewal costs, especially if you plan to hold several domains for years.

Our view

There is not much mystery to using BigRock. The control panel gives you the usual DNS, nameserver and forwarding options, and transfers use the standard unlock-and-authorisation-code process. Support being available 24/7 is a real plus. If I were buying a domain for a new site, having hosting and email in the same account could also be handy. Where I would hesitate is long-term cost: the renewal prices are only average, and I would want clearer information about WHOIS privacy before checkout.

Best for

Small businesses and website owners who want an easy registrar, 24/7 help and the option to add hosting later.

Not ideal for

Domain investors, large portfolios or anyone chasing the very lowest renewal prices.

What stands out

The account is straightforward and support is available whenever you need it.

Biggest drawback

Renewals are not especially cheap, and the privacy pricing could be explained much more clearly.

What I like about BigRock

  • The control panel keeps the usual domain jobs simple: DNS, nameservers and forwarding are all where I would expect them to be.
  • Support is available 24/7 by phone, chat and email, which is useful when a domain issue cannot wait until office hours.
  • Transfer locking and domain theft protection add some reassurance without making normal transfers difficult.
  • The current `.com`, `.org` and `.net` registration and transfer prices are reasonable for one or a few domains.

What I would watch

  • Renewals are noticeably less attractive than the first-year prices, especially if you are holding several domains.
  • BigRock's own pages are not consistent about WHOIS privacy pricing, so I would check the exact charge in the cart.
  • There is little here for domain investors who want auctions, aftermarket tools or more advanced portfolio features.
  • BigRock does not appear on our current `.co.uk` or `.ai` comparison sheets, so I have left those prices out rather than guessing.

.org comparison →$8.94First year$14.31Standard renewal$11.93Transfer priceThe registration price is good, but renewal rises more sharply than transfer.
.net comparison →$12.95First year$14.15Standard renewal$12.95Transfer priceThe current `.net` renewal is only moderately higher than registration and transfer.
First-year prices are decent

BigRock is competitive enough on `.com`, `.org` and `.net` if you are registering one or two domains.

Renewals matter more

The bigger jump is on `.com` and `.org`, so I would compare the second-year cost before deciding.

Transfers are fairly priced

For all three extensions we checked, transferring in costs no more than the renewal price.

Domain features

Nothing flashy, but the basics are covered

BigRock is not trying to be an auction platform or a domain-investor toolkit. It is mainly about registering a domain, pointing it at a website, moving it when needed and getting help if something goes wrong.

01

DNS management

You can edit the usual DNS records from the account when the domain is using BigRock's nameservers.

02

Domain forwarding

Domains can be redirected elsewhere, with options for masking, subdomains and path forwarding.

03

Theft protection

A transfer lock helps stop a domain being moved out by mistake or without permission.

04

Standard transfers

Transfers use the normal unlock, authorisation-code and approval process, so there is nothing unusual to learn.

05

24/7 support

BigRock says its team is available around the clock by phone, chat and email.

06

Hosting and email

If the domain is for a new site, you can add hosting and email without opening another account elsewhere.

I would check privacy in the cart

BigRock supports WHOIS privacy on eligible extensions, but its own pages do not all describe the pricing the same way.

Because of that, I would ignore any old headline promise and check the live cart for the exact TLD. I would also check whether the privacy charge renews separately.

The hosting side is a bonus

BigRock also sells shared hosting, WordPress hosting and email. If you are buying the domain for a new website, keeping those services together can save some setup time.

I would not choose the registrar because of that alone. Domain price, renewals, DNS, transfers and support still matter more.

Compare before choosing

Worth comparing with lower-cost registrars

BigRock is easy to use and support is a strong point. If I cared more about renewal price or specialist domain tools, I would compare it with these alternatives before buying.

How this review was prepared

How we checked BigRock

The rating comes from our normal registrar scoring method. Prices come from our current comparison data, while product and account details are checked against BigRock and ICANN documentation. Customer reviews are kept separate from our editorial score.

Evidence used

  • Current registration, renewal and transfer evidence for `.com`, `.org` and `.net` from the Find Cheap Domains comparison dataset.
  • ICANN records identifying BigRock Solutions Ltd as accredited registrar 1495.
  • BigRock documentation for DNS, nameservers, forwarding, domain transfers, privacy, theft protection and 24/7 support.

The comments on value, ease of use and privacy clarity are our editorial judgement. Prices and technical details are checked separately against the comparison data and BigRock's own documentation.

Privacy, promotions and transfer rules can differ by extension.
