Spaceship review

Spaceship takes an app-based approach to domain management rather than using a conventional registrar dashboard. This review examines its prices, tools and day-to-day usability using current research and my own paid account.

Review verdict

Excellent value, but the interface is not beginner-friendly

Spaceship earns a high score for its prices and depth of features. Its biggest weakness is usability: the app-based layout presents so many routes and options that the account can feel overwhelming.

Our view

Spaceship is one of the strongest-value registrars in this comparison, but I would not describe it as easy to learn. The platform rewards users who know which tools they need; newcomers may struggle with the number of apps, labels and possible routes.

Ideal user

An experienced domain owner or portfolio user who prioritises low prices, advanced controls and a broad management toolkit.

Who should avoid it

Beginners and users who prefer a familiar dashboard with a conventional header, sidebar and a small number of obvious choices.

Main compromise

You gain excellent prices and unusually deep features, but must learn Spaceship’s Launchpad and app-based navigation.

Main alternative

Porkbun is the clearest alternative for competitive pricing in a more conventional registrar experience.

What Spaceship does well

  • Delivers some of the strongest registration and renewal value in the checked extension comparisons.
  • Provides a deep toolkit for DNS, transfers, portfolios and account security.
  • Includes automatic domain privacy for nearly all eligible extensions.

Points to consider

  • The Launchpad and app structure can present too many choices at once, with no familiar registrar-style header or sidebar.
  • Some of the lowest coupon prices have customer or quantity limits.
  • Support is centred on chat and email, and the company has a shorter operating history than older registrars.

Spaceship domain registrar review

First-hand Spaceship experience

What Spaceship is like in paid use

I have used Spaceship for paid domain orders and account management. The figures and screenshots below document that use while keeping order details and personal information redacted.

My account totals

My Spaceship transaction history shows:

  • Total charged: £1,260.08
  • Refunded: £319.84
  • Net total cost: £940.24

The linked image is a redacted screenshot of my orders and transactions. It is provided as evidence of genuine paid account use rather than as a complete public transaction export.

The interface is the biggest drawback

I prefer modern design and build modern websites myself, but Spaceship’s interface still feels overwhelming. It does not rely on the familiar header or side navigation used by most registrar dashboards. Instead, the Launchpad exposes a large collection of apps and options at once.

The problem is not a lack of capability. The prices and tools are excellent once I reach the right area. The difficulty is the sensory and decision overload created before that point. Someone new to domains is likely to find the account even harder to approach.

How this review was prepared

How we checked Spaceship

The score follows our five-category registrar-review method and remains separate from customer ratings. This update combines the checked extension prices and official documentation with first-hand paid account use.

Evidence used

  • First-hand paid account activity documented with a redacted Spaceship orders-and-transactions screenshot.
  • Account transaction totals calculated by the author, including refunded orders.
  • An interface screenshot taken on 3 August 2026 showing the Launchpad and range of available apps.
  • Registration, renewal and transfer evidence from the domain-extension comparisons available at the review date.
  • Official documentation for accreditation, privacy, DNSSEC, transfers, portfolio tools, security and support.

Review scope

This is a practical registrar review, not a penetration test or a benchmark of every support interaction. Features and prices can differ by extension, country and account.

The spending totals are calculated from the author’s account transaction history. The linked order screenshot is redacted and shows account activity, but it is not presented as a complete public transaction export.

Official documentation is used for features that were not individually tested in every possible account or registry configuration.
