DreamHost is a capable basic registrar, but its strongest advantage comes from its hosting ecosystem rather than its domain service alone.
An existing DreamHost hosting customer managing one or a few website domains who wants one login and included privacy.
Domain investors, agencies and other portfolio owners who prioritise low renewals, bulk-focused tools or a registrar-only dashboard.
You gain the convenience of an all-in-one hosting account, but accept higher renewal exposure and fewer specialist domain tools.

For one or two domains attached to DreamHost hosting, included privacy and a single account may be worth paying slightly more.

I previously kept multiple domains at DreamHost. A redacted invoice in my name shows $802.66 in new domain charges for the billing period, and I later transferred all but one domain to other registrars.
