What the registration date does and does not prove
Domain age describes how long the current registry record has existed. It is not the same as the age of the website, business or content.
The age starts from the published registration event
The checker calculates elapsed time from the RDAP registration date to the date of the lookup.
A transfer does not always reset the domain's age
A domain may change registrar or registrant while retaining its original registration date.
An old domain can host a new website
The registration date does not show when the current website, company or content first appeared.
Age alone is not a safety or quality score
Older domains are not automatically trustworthy, active or associated with the same owner throughout their history.

How is a domain name age calculated?
The checker reads the registration event published by the domain registry through RDAP and calculates the elapsed years, months and days between that date and the date of the lookup.
Is domain age the same as website age?
No. A domain can be registered for years before a website is created, and an older domain can later be used for a completely new website or business.
Does changing registrar reset the domain age?
Usually not. A registrar transfer normally preserves the registration record and original registration date, although registry practices and unusual deletion or re-registration events can affect the date.
Why is the registration date unavailable?
Some registries do not publish a registration event through RDAP, some domain extensions do not yet provide an RDAP service, and temporary registry errors can prevent the date from being returned.
Does an older domain rank higher in search engines?
The checker only reports registration age. It does not measure search rankings, website quality, backlinks, ownership history, safety or trustworthiness.
